Orion Multimedia and Sporting Classics Team up in Multi-Platform Partnership

For Immediate Release: January 27, 2011

DENVER, COLORADO – Officials from Orion Multimedia and Sporting Classics magazine have announced a cross-platform marketing alliance that will bring the award-winning magazine to television and introduce many of Orion's most popular programs and hosts to Sporting Classics' readers.

Beginning with the magazine's March/April edition, a new column by Orion President Chris Dorsey will showcase the stories behind the people and the making of outdoor television's biggest series.

Dorsey is founding partner of Denver-based Orion Multimedia and has written seven books on outdoor, natural history, and business subjects. His work has appeared in most of the significant national outdoor periodicals as well as The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, The Robb Report and TelevisionWeek. In addition, he's helped create over 40 national television series, more than anyone in history.

The new 'On Location' column begins with a profile of Tom Brokaw and his adventures with saltwater flats fishing. The celebrated NBC News anchor currently hosts Orion's Buccaneers & Bones series appearing on the Outdoor Channel. Future columns will visit with popular hosts such as Jeff Rann, Dangerous Game; Jeff Foxworthy, The Bucks of Tecomate; Ron Spomer, Winchester's World of Whitetail; Gerald McRaney, The World of Beretta; Mike Hanback, The Buck Stops Here; Kristy Lee Cook, Browning's Going Country; Bob Foulkrod, Winchester Legends; David Morris, Tecomate Whitetail Nation; Steve LeBlanc, Browning Expeditions and many others.

Now celebrating its 30th year, Sporting Classics is the ultimate journal for adventure-seeking sportsmen. With its best-in-class writing, stunning photography, and award-winning design, it has established itself as America's premier hunting and fishing periodical.

"Bringing behind-the-scenes looks at the most popular and highly decorated series and talent in the outdoor television genre is a natural fit with Sporting Classics," says Orion's Chris Dorsey. "I've been an avid follower of the magazine from its inception."

"Everyone knows Orion's television series for their unmatched production standards and compelling storytelling," says Chuck Wechsler, publisher and editor of Sporting Classics. "Bringing these two media brands together is a chance to celebrate the very best in the outdoors."
